Pointing Your Domain Name
to a Third-Party Host Company's Servers
In order for a domain name to work with any hosting account, the domain
name's DNS (Domain Name Servers) must be pointed to the hosting account's
name servers. Your hosting company will provide the correct DNS addresses
(minimum of 2). Frequently, hosting companies will also provide an IP
address for the Name Servers. We do not require an IP, only the Name
Servers.
To Modify the Name Servers for Your Domain Name Using the new Domain
Control Center
- Log in to your Account
Manager.
- Under the Domain Names section, select Manage
Domains. The Domain Control Center opens.
- In your list of domain names, use the checkboxes to select the domain
name you want to modify.
- Above your list of domain names, click Nameservers.
- On the Custom Name Servers tab, type in the name
servers (at least 2) for your hosting account.
- Click OK.
Allow 4-8 hours for .COM and .NET domains and about 24-48 hours for
all other domain extensions for the changes to take effect.
