Updating Your Mail (MX) Records
If you are hosting a domain with us but have your email account hosted elsewhere,
you need to modify your MX Records in your Account Manager.
MX Records control where email that is sent to your domain will go. You only
need to modify your MX Records if you host your domain with us and host your
email account somewhere else. If you make a mistake, you can restore your default
MX Records.
To Update Your MX Records Using the New Domain Control Center
- Log in to your Account
Manager.
- From the Domain Names menu, click Manage Domains.
The Domain Control Center opens in a new window.
- In your list of domain names, click the domain name that contains the
MX record you want to change. The Details for the selected domain display.
- In the Total DNS Control section, click Total
DNS Control and MX Records. The DNS Manager opens in a new window.
For help with any of the fields, click the ?.
- Under MX (Mail Exchangers), click Edit for
the MX record you want to modify.
- From the Select the Priority Value list, select the value.
- In the Enter a Host Name field, type your domain name,
@, or www, depending on your preference. For more information about the values
you can type in this field, click the ? located to the right
of the field.
- In the Enter Goes To Address field, type the mail server's
address.
- From the Select TTL Value list, select a time increment.
- Click Continue, and then click Update.
