Making a Backordered Domain Private

You can make your backorder private and keep your personal identifying information (name, phone number, email and home addresses) shielded from public exposure in the WHOIS directory from the very moment the you successfully acquire your backordered domain.

Again, if your backorder is not successful, it can be reassigned to another domain name. If your unsuccessful backorder is private, your private registration can be applied to any other backorder.

To Make a Backordered Domain Private in the NEW Domain Control Center

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. From the Domain Names menu, click Manage Domains. The Domain Control Center opens.
  3. In the list of folders, click Backorders and Monitoring.
  4. In your list of backordered and monitored domain names, use the checkboxes to select the backordered domains that you want to make private.
  5. Above your list of backordered and monitored domain names, click Privacy.
  6. In the Update Backorder Privacy section, select Private Backorder and then click Continue.

Note:You must have Privacy credits available in order to add privacy to your backorder. Above your list of domain names, click Buy Credits, and then purchase the necessary privacy credits before attempting to add privacy to your backorder.
